Use of Schema for Onsite SEO

For using schema, you need to be very careful with markup and content type. There are different types of content as well as markup. You need to see which type of markup is suitable for which kind of content. The use of this markup can ensure a high rank in search engine result pages. If you are still confused about the importance of schema, you can remove this confusion in another way. Compare the ranking of two organizations. From these two organizations, the one should be using markup. At the same time, the second one needs to be that one which does not use markup. Here you will find a clear difference in ranking.

For using markup, you have to follow these steps,

1. Google Structured Data

The first step for using this markup is related to Google’s structured data. Here go to the google’s structured data markup helper. Without ensuring structured data, you cannot use markup. Because schema.org is a structured data vocabulary. By using structured data, it will be easy for Google to understand the information on your website. And ultimately, your website will have a high traffic rate.

2. Data Type

The second step is related to the data type on your website. As discussed above that this markup can be used for all types of content. But for each category of content, you have to add schema separately. Here suppose your content type is the blog. A blog is the most commonly used category of content.

3. URL Selection

After category selection, you are supposed to paste the URL. And then click the option of ‘start tagging’. Here you will get the markup tool on your page. Also, you will get the workspace. This workspace will be used for tagging required items. There will be two panes. The right pane will have a data item. At the same time, the left pane will have a web page.

4. Element Selection

In the fourth step, you have to highlight and select the name. As per your content type, you are required to choose the names. Here your content type is a blog. So you have to highlight the names of blogs. After highlighting, you have to select those names one by one. Go to the tooltip and click on ‘name’. When you select ‘name’, you will see it in the right pane. In short, the tool will add it in the category of ‘data items’.

5. Add All Markup Items

Just like step four, highlight the rest of the items in your blog. By doing so, the tool will add all items of blog to the markup list. Here if you tried to add each item, you would not be able to do so. That is why it is advised not to tag items. But add them to the list by using a tooltip. When you are done with adding all the things, then move to the step number six.

6. HTML Creation

Click on the available option of ‘create HTML’. When you click on this option, you will have the following page. On that page, you will get HTML for your page. With HTML, you will have all the relevant microdata.

7. Schema Markup

For adding schema markup, you have to go to the CMS. In CMS, you will find spots. In those available spots, you are supposed to add highlighted snippets. For finding the schema markup code, you can use markers. Suppose you have used a yellow marker from the scrollbar. If you find this way difficult, you can go for the alternate one.

The second way is to download a file of automatically-generated HTML. Here you just have to paste your CMS. And then click on the ‘finish’. It will lead you towards the ‘next step’.

8. Markup Test

For testing markup on your page, you have to use a tool. This tool is named as ‘structured data testing tool’. By using this tool, you can see how your page looks like. Paste the code and check the preview. By doing so, you can analyze the code. In the preview, you can exactly see what will appear on search results. Also, you can check each element of markup on-page. In case of any update, you can easily edit the data and preview it again.
